The Budimex Group increases its potential in the steel structures production area

16.05.2023

On Monday, 15 May 2023, Mostostal Kraków entered into agreement on purchase of 100 percent of shares of PPUH Konstalex. Therefore, the company of Budimex Group has increased its production capacity to 17,000 tons of steel structures annually. This volume makes the company the leader of the Polish steel market.

The sales document was signed by the President of the Management Board of Mostostal Kraków, Jacek Lech, a Member of the Management Board of the company, Jakub Tomaszewski, as well as Bożena Zbroja and Grzegorz Zbroja – previous owners of Konstalex.

The decision on purchase of a company specialised in heavy structures is accordant with the current development strategy of Mostostal Kraków. The purpose of the Company is to increase its production potential and expand its offer by adding new types of steel structures. Acquisition of infrastructure and contracts of Konstalex is also an important step towards building of the company’s business independence and market position.

“I believe that I can say that we are gradually becoming a leader among producers of steel structures in Poland,” says Jacek Lech, the President of Mostostal Kraków. “By looking at implemented projects, we can see how many joint construction contracts we have executed together with Konstalex over the years. We believe that this transaction will allow us to operate more efficiently and comprehensively. Greater flexibility and production potential translate into greater stability of prices and limitation of risks for the benefit of both our company and our Customers. Combined forces and experience of Mostostal Kraków and Konstalex give us possibilities we did not have before due to, e.g., formal or logistic limitations,” Jacek Lech adds.

Diversification of the business portfolio is an approach realised by the entire Budimex Group. In the recent months, one of the largest construction groups in Poland has increased its engagement in new areas, such as renewable energy sources or low-emission transport. Moreover, it has been gradually increasing its presence on foreign markets – in Germany, the Czech Republic or Slovakia. Investments in production capacity is another important element of emphasising the role of Budimex as a company that supply comprehensive solutions in the construction industry.

“We operate in difficult and variable market conditions, which motivates us to look for a business model that guarantees stability and development opportunities. Steel structures are a necessary part of many projects we implement, e.g., in road or railway construction. By having our own, comprehensive storage and production facilities we are able to optimise costs and respond to any disturbances in supply chains. This way, we create a significant advantage over our competition. This is a solid foundation for the Budimex Group to embark on further, ambitious challenges,” says Artur Popko, the President of the Management Board of Budimex S.A.

In the coming weeks, we plan to constitute a new Management Board of PPUH Konstalex. The company continues its production operations and fulfilment of orders. It will operate under its previous name and with an unchanged activity profile.

PPUH Konstalex has been present on the market since 1993. It produces large size and steel structures. The production facility features production and storage surface area of more than 23,000 m². Konstalex is specialised in implementations for energy industry and construction of bridges.
